    Man of Wisdom

    Photography

Do not be afraid to look back to the past at the things you once forgot. Every future has a past. Every memory is a story left to unfold, whether for you or for someone else. Let’s share a chapter of our lives with those very near and dear to us and so will they.

    Assumption Church

    Photography

is a majestic brick church built in the Gothic Revival style. It is the fourth church building to serve the oldest continuously operating Roman Catholic parish in Ontario. Located on 2.4 hectares of land in the historic Sandwich area of west Windsor, Assumption Church is a local landmark.

Assumption Church is recognized for its heritage value by the City of Windsor, Bylaw 5893, 1978. In addition, an Ontario Heritage Foundation easement covers the church exterior, sacristy, Rosary Chapel, the area in front of the church and the “magnificent interior.”

    Colchester Anglican Cemetery

    Watercolour painted en plein air
    9” x 12”

This painting was created on site at the Colchester Anglican Cemetery. The location was chosen by Elizabeth Gaye MacDonald, the leader of our plein air group, who shared that her parents are buried there.

It was a very hot day, even though we were near the lake, so I selected a shaded spot—which turned out to be perfect. I always welcome the opportunity to include a piece of sculpture in my paintings.

    My Mother’s House

Watercolour and Rapidograph on illustration board, 9” x 12”

This is an older painting—I even signed it with my maiden name. My mom enjoyed collecting antiques, including this leather Victorian chair and various items from the local Indian store, such as the hanging lamp in the hallway and the carved teak pieces.

    Broken Wings

Watercolour painted en plein air, 5” x 7”

I discovered this sculpted angel hidden in the overgrowth of Ann Ducharme’s garden, only to realise her wings were buried beneath the autumn leaves.
